June has been a whirlwind month of fantastic engagement for the SeaGrown team, taking us from London to Leeds and back again to our home turf in Scarborough. It’s been an invaluable period for connecting with leaders across sustainability, industry, and policy, allowing us to share the story and potential of sustainable seaweed cultivation.
Our month began in the capital at the prestigious Ocean Talks event in London. As we detailed in our previous blog post, it was an inspiring evening connecting with a diverse group of ocean lovers, sharing our "Plant a Tree in the Sea" initiative and discussing the future of marine restoration.
Last week, the focus shifted to regional and national business leadership. Our General Manager, Jo Holborn and Crew Coordinator, Jamie, spent two busy days in Leeds at the Re:Generation Earth Conference. It was brilliant to speak with so many businesses actively looking for credible ESG solutions and to showcase how our "Plant a Tree in the Sea" programme offers a tangible way to make a nature-positive impact.
At the same time, our Directors Wave Crookes and Laura Robinson were here in Scarborough for the North Yorkshire Maritime & Renewable Energy Conference. This crucial local event, attended by Mayor David Skaith, was a fantastic platform to discuss the integration of seaweed cultivation with the existing blue economy, from co-location with renewables to providing diversification opportunities for maritime skills.
The unifying theme across all these discussions was the clear and urgent demand for innovative, verifiable, nature-positive solutions. Whether for corporate ESG targets, regional economic strategy, or direct environmental compensation, the interest in harnessing the power of our oceans for good is growing rapidly. We were proud to present SeaGrown's work as a key part of that solution.
The conversation doesn’t stop here! We’re already looking forward to July, where we'll be participating in the ReMeMaRe conference, which is also taking place right here in Scarborough. We hope to see some of you there!
