Last night, against the beautiful backdrop of the Serpentine North Gallery in London, we had the distinct pleasure of attending the 2025 Ocean Talks, hosted by the prestigious Boat International and supported by The Ocean Family Foundation. This annual event is a vital and inspiring convergence of minds, bringing together influential figures from the yachting industry, leading marine scientists, conservationists, and green technology innovators, all united by a shared passion: the health and future of our oceans.
The atmosphere was one of genuine collaboration and shared purpose. It was fantastic to connect with so many incredible people who love the ocean, whether their involvement is through their professional work or personal pleasure. These conversations are crucial, bridging the gap between different sectors to foster understanding and drive forward tangible solutions for marine restoration.
Amidst these important discussions, we were delighted to share a taste of the Yorkshire coast by offering samples of our Hold Fast Seaweed Beer. This proved to be a great conversation starter, leading to some brilliant discussions about the potential of sustainable seaweed cultivation.
We found a huge amount of interest in our "Plant a Tree in the Sea" initiative, our unique ESG programme that enables businesses and individuals to directly invest in deploying our Kelpedo™ units for tangible marine benefits. For an audience so deeply connected to the sea, the opportunity to support a nature-positive project that actively enhances biodiversity, improves water quality, and sequesters carbon truly resonated.
Events like Ocean Talks are essential for sparking the collaborations that will define the future of ocean stewardship. We left feeling energised and optimistic about the collective will to protect and restore our blue planet.
For those who couldn't be there but are interested in our approach, Boat International recently published an in-depth Q&A with our founders, Wave and Laura, which provides a deeper dive into our mission.
