Our Projects
In our Scarborough Marine Recovery Zone, we grow seaweed offshore on the patented Kelpedo system. Beyond the Zone, we work with scientists, water companies and regional partners who want to see what that growing can do: cleaner coastal water, new ways to support farming inland, stronger evidence for the Blue Economy. These are the projects doing that work.
A trial testing whether seaweed and shellfish can help improve coastal water quality in Scarborough's North Bay. Working with Yorkshire Water and The Crown Estate, we're measuring what our offshore units can do for the water we all share. More to come as we get closer to putting units in the water.
Our co-funded response to the Carbon Negative Challenge Fund, set up by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority to support the region's ambition of becoming England's first carbon-negative area by 2040. We grow seaweed offshore, absorbing carbon and creating habitat, while our harvest is trialled onshore at the Yorkshire Low Carbon Seaweed Hub, developing biostimulants and emissions-reduction products for local farming.
