For our latest Stockist Spotlight, we are immensely proud to feature one of our hometown's most iconic landmarks: the magnificent Scarborough Castle. We met with Site Manager, Charlotte, to chat about the unique experience of offering a taste of the modern Yorkshire coast from within a site steeped in 3,000 years of history.
Perched on the 16-acre headland, with breathtaking views over the very sea we operate in, Scarborough Castle is a special place. "We are lucky enough to sell some regional products in our shop that champion the Yorkshire coast," Charlotte explains, "and SeaGrown is an amazing addition."
But how does a contemporary local product fit within a world-class heritage site? For Charlotte, it’s about a shared set of values. "Our role at English Heritage is to protect, sustain and enhance one of the most important collections of historic sites, landscapes and objects in the world," she says. "We feel we share this ethos with SeaGrown and the work in growing a more sustainable future."
This unique connection isn't lost on visitors. In fact, it’s one of the most compelling parts of the story. "They love how local this product is to Scarborough Castle," Charlotte told us. "You can see the SeaGrown boats from our viewing platform and people are fascinated by the work you are doing. As well as being tasty seasoning, it’s a great souvenir of their time in Scarborough."
When it comes to a personal recommendation, Charlotte has a clear favourite: "I am a big fan of the Everyday seasoning! It's perfect on eggs in the morning."
Working at such a beautiful site is a privilege Charlotte clearly cherishes. "I am very lucky to have Scarborough Castle as my office," she says. "Being able to welcome visitors to experience our history and breathtaking views is wonderful. Being able to enjoy them myself every day isn’t half bad either!"
We are so proud to be stocked at such a significant local landmark. Next time you visit to soak in the incredible history, be sure to pop into the shop and take a taste of modern, sustainable Scarborough home with you.
