Inspiring the Next Wave of Innovators at Scarborough STEM Week

What a brilliant and inspiring week! The SeaGrown team has just wrapped up a fantastic few days at the Scarborough STEM Week event at the Spa, and we're buzzing with excitement from the experience.

It was a privilege to connect with hundreds of curious young minds from our local community, sharing our passion for the science and technology that drives our pioneering work in the North Sea. Our stand was a hub of activity, with students getting a close-up look at different seaweeds and marine creatures under the microscope, and asking some incredibly insightful questions about marine biology, engineering, and ocean health.

Our team, including Imogen, Becca, Jo, and Jamie, had a wonderful time chatting with the next generation of potential scientists, engineers, and ocean guardians.

We asked Imogen, one of our ocean scientists, what she enjoyed most about the week: "It was absolutely brilliant. The enthusiasm from the students was incredible, especially when they got to see the seaweed seeds up close under the microscope. You could see their curiosity spark in real-time when they realised how much life our seaweed supports. It’s fantastic to think that we might have inspired a few future marine biologists right here in Scarborough this week!"

For SeaGrown, participating in events like Scarborough STEM Week is about more than just showcasing our work; it's an investment in our community's future. We believe that by fostering a love for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths, we can help inspire the local talent that will one day lead our region's growing blue economy.

A huge thank you to the organisers for putting on such a fantastic event, and to every single student who visited our stand and shared their curiosity with us!
