A Day in the Life of Jamie, Our Crew Coordinator

While much of SeaGrown's pioneering work happens out on the waves, a huge amount of meticulous planning takes place shoreside to make it all possible. This month in our "Day in the Life" series, we meet Jamie, our Crew Coordinator, whose role is essential for business continuity and the safety of our team.

Jamie is the master of our operational puzzle. A typical day for him involves managing the complex crew schedule, ensuring that the right people with the right skills are in the right place at the right time. Whether it's a routine maintenance trip on Bright Blue or a scientific survey, Jamie makes sure we have the correct personnel ready to go.

Beyond daily scheduling, a big part of Jamie’s role is focusing on the team's professional development and, most importantly, their safety. He is our Head of Health & Safety, responsible for arranging the crucial training and certifications our crew need to operate safely and effectively in the demanding offshore environment. From sea survival courses to first aid refreshers, Jamie ensures our team is prepared for any eventuality.

"My job is to make sure all the pieces are in place for the team to succeed," says Jamie. "It’s about ensuring smooth, continuous operations day-to-day, but also about investing in the team's skills and safety for the long term. Knowing everyone is well-trained and can go to sea confidently is the most rewarding part."

Jamie’s foresight, organisation, and commitment to the crew's well-being are fundamental to everything we do. He is the shoreside support that allows our offshore operations to thrive!
