A Day in the Life & Welcome Aboard: Jake H, Crew Member

This month, we're giving a huge welcome to the newest member of our marine crew, Jake H! Jake joined us a couple of months ago and has already become a vital part of the team, bringing with him a wealth of practical experience from the North Sea.

With deep roots in the local maritime community, Jake's journey to SeaGrown is a fantastic story of skill and adaptation. "I was a fisherman for 16 years straight out of school, catching crabs and lobsters," he explains. "It’s all I did till I finally wanted a change and ended up at SeaGrown." We are thrilled that he chose to bring his incredible experience to our pioneering seaweed cultivation work.

A typical day for Jake now involves a different kind of catch. As a key member of the Bright Blue crew, his work can range from building and preparing our Kelpedo™ cultivation rigs ashore to heading out to our offshore site for deployment and maintenance operations. When asked what he's enjoyed most so far, Jake's answer was clear: "working on Bright Blue, learning new skills and the teamwork it takes to do the job."

Looking to the future, Jake is excited about contributing to the company's innovation. He’s particularly interested in the continuous research and development of the Kelpedo™ system's design and construction. This means using his 16 years of hands-on experience in the North Sea to help test, refine, and improve the cultivation rigs, ensuring they are as robust and efficient as possible. It’s a perfect way to blend his traditional maritime skills with SeaGrown's cutting-edge technology.

Jake's hands-on expertise, enthusiasm for learning, and interest in our innovative technology make him a perfect fit for the SeaGrown team. We're delighted to have you aboard, Jake!
